The very interesting iPhone SE 4 returns but remains an apparent unknown, despite the fact that the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported since February that the Cupertino company has already resumed the creation processes of the device. However, it seems that he now affirms the opposite, retracting those statements. This leaves the future of the iPhone SE up in the air, with nothing clear.

There is nothing clear about the next iPhone SE 4

Since 2022, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple put the iPhone SE 4 project on hold while it decided the future of the device to cancel it or just delay the launch. Months later, in February 2023, the analyst mentioned that Apple had finally gotten back on track with the device process. Also, apparently being that the iPhone SE 4 would be a “minor modification of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14” by adding a 5G modem inside.

Through a new tweet from Kuo’s profile indicated that his February claims were wrong. Apparently, it wasn’t a new iPhone SE 4but rather an “engineered prototype for Apple’s own 5G baseband chip technology.” Although, it seems that new production and mass sales are not expected at the moment.

In the words of Ming-Chi Kuo, he expected that the iPhone SE 4 would become a version similar to the iPhone 14. Although it seems that after some research the apparent iPhone SE 4 would change to this engineering prototype related to Apple’s 5G base. However, he stressed that there is nothing about opening this option to the public, not even for mass production.

In conclusion, It seems that the development of the iPhone SE 4 will not have a follow-up, leaving the project aside. Also, there is nothing clear about whether the company will continue development or end up canceling the device.

Today the analyst affirmed that Apple continues with the development of this 5G modem that would distance the company from Qualcomm as a supplier. The new 5G modem would be the result of this new prototype engineering, so it remains to be seen what continues in the company’s projects. In case of continuing with the development, mass production would be ready by 2025, if not, it would remain to wait.
