Samsung is preparing to introduce the Galaxy S23 at the Unpacked event scheduled for February 1, where the company will also introduce One UI 5.1. Luckily, we won’t have to wait until Wednesday for the changes, as the folks at WinFuture have managed to access the changelog. First of all, One UI 5.1 will include options to change the tone of selfies using the Effects button located on the side of the screen, as well as quick access to Expert RAW mode from the Advanced menu. Gallery also gets a facelift, and with this update it will feature Shared Family Albums, better image processing to remove shadows and reflections, improved search, and settings for choosing a location to save screenshots. The widget experience has also been revamped. Samsung is introducing two new battery and weather widgets, with the former to display information on all Samsung devices, including headphones and smartwatches. Samsung is also improving supports for moods and scenarios, so starting with One UI 5.1, users can set different wallpapers on the lock screen and home screen based on current activities. Samsung DeX gets an upgrade with improved multitasking, while Samsung Internet gets improved search by allowing users to search for bookmarks by a folder name. One UI 5.1 will come preloaded on the Galaxy S23. All other devices will receive the improvements gradually, possibly in the coming weeks.
