The Moto G62 and Galaxy A33 serve pretty much the same type of audience. We’re talking about those who want a 5G phone that delivers mid-range specifications, at a not-so-high cost.
In the comparison between the Motorola smartphone and the Samsung smartphone, which is the best purchase in the segment for the consumer? That’s what we’re going to know now, in this TechSmart Comparison.

Motorola Moto G62
As they are intermediates outside of a more premium category, these two devices are made up of plastic on the sides and back. Their cover does not differ much from what we see in other models of each brand, as well as the camera blocks, both the oval and the metallic paint of the Moto, as well as the jump module and the matte finish of the Galaxy.
At the front, the G62 is more daring to come with a hole-punch notch on the screen. The A33, on the other hand, still prefers the teardrop shape, but without compromising the frontal use so much. At least, the Korean comes with a fingerprint reader under the display, more advanced than the biometric sensor integrated into the rival’s power button.
Samsung Galaxy A33 5G
The duo has practically the same weight, only the Samsung model is a little more compact. It also has the differential of IP67 certification, to give resistance against dust and liquids.
Both still resemble each other in the presence of a hybrid drawer, which shares the second slot for carrier chip with the space for a microSD card. Their connectivity contains fifth-generation Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, for contactless payments.
The advantages of the Galaxy A surpass those of the Moto G. Therefore, the Korean takes the lead in the duel.

Screen
The G62 comes with an IPS LCD panel only, but with a slightly larger size and screen-to-body ratio than the competition. In turn, the A33 stands out for its Super AMOLED display, which provides strong brightness and more vibrant colors.
Both have Full HD+ resolution. The Moto’s differential is in the 120 Hz refresh rate, which brings more fluidity to the system’s animations and games than the Galaxy’s 90 Hz. But the Korean is the one that will provide greater protection against scratches, for having Gorilla Glass 5 glass.
On the one hand, a larger and more fluid screen for games. On the other, the superior material for multimedia. One point for each.

Sound
The manufacturers paid good attention to the sound part and inserted a stereo system in these intermediaries. This means that you will have more immersion in them, by using the call loudspeaker acting as a secondary channel.
The Moto’s power is slightly above the Galaxy, but both offer a good balance between bass, mids and treble, even though it’s still far from perfect. The G62 is the only one of the duo to come with a physical headphone jack, in addition to sending a basic accessory in the box.
Overall, Motorola has the best of sound.

System
The G62 and A33 already come with Android 12 as their native operating system. Moto has at least one guaranteed software update, but still far from the Galaxy’s four guaranteed updates, apart from five years of security packages.
Both offer 5G technology to keep up with the evolution of the fastest mobile network. The interface between the two flows very well. A pity that Motorola struggles to deliver a good multitasking experience. At least, it makes up for it with a higher refresh rate than Samsung.
In terms of features, we find the same of other models of each in these two. In other words, the Moto G will have the classic gestures to activate the flashlight or open the camera app, while the Galaxy A contains the shortcuts of the Edge Screen, the information of the Always-on Display and even takes advantage of the dark mode to save battery.
Samsung’s longevity makes the difference here and gives it the point.

Motorola preferred to use the Snapdragon 480 Plus platform in the G62, coupled with just 4GB of RAM. Samsung, on the other hand, opted for the homemade solution and inserted its Exynos 1280 in the A33, along with 6 GB of RAM. And we saw that this difference in memory weighed heavily in our speed tests.
Moto’s hardware wasn’t enough to keep many apps open, which made it reopen several in the background. The result was an advantage of almost one minute for the Galaxy, in the sum of the two rounds.
In benchmarks, we also saw a quiet victory for the Korean, with almost 100 thousand points of difference in AnTuTu. Don’t expect to run games at maximum quality on them, it’s just that at least the G62 has 120 fps support in its favor, in compatible titles.
The A33’s far superior multitasking performance sets it apart.

Both Moto and Galaxy are powered by a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. But don’t think that this means having the same autonomy. The G62 is ahead here, 1 hour and 40 minutes longer than its rival.
When we start loading, the scenario is reversed. Even with a 15 W adapter less powerful than Motorola’s 20 W, the Samsung model takes almost half an hour less in the socket and stays below two hours, a mark that the competitor cannot reach.
The Moto G62 scores for superior autonomy; and the Galaxy A33 scores for the fastest recharge.

In cameras, we have a triple set from Motorola, against four lenses used by Samsung. The G62’s 50 MP main sensor even takes good photos with enough light, but it doesn’t have as efficient an HDR as the rival’s 48 MP. On the other hand, the A33 does more at night and does not present the amount of noise that the competitor with the night mode.
The Galaxy’s ultrawide is also the one that captures images with the colors closest to the main one. At least the photos on it and the Moto aren’t as disposable in dark places.
Their macro lacks autofocus, but the Korean lens has a higher resolution, for more decent records. It’s also the only one to come with a blur camera, which does the job well in portrait mode.
With peace of mind, Samsung gets the point.

Galaxy supports 4K recording at 30 fps, while Moto is limited to Full HD resolution at 60 fps. The Korean also hits better in quality, has a more agile focus and brings an optical stabilization system capable of dealing with shake better than the electronics of the G62. At least the audio capture is good on both sides.
It’s one more point for the A33 5G.

Overall, we find good selfies on these devices during the day, with a drop in sharpness at night, which makes both depend on a good light source. Their portrait mode works fine, but Moto ends up blowing the background. In addition, the Galaxy supports 4K filming also with the front camera, while the G62 is nothing but Full HD.
Again, we have a point for the A33.

These devices have officially arrived in Europe. The Moto G62 came at a suggested price of BRL 2,000, cheaper than the BRL 2,700 charged at the launch of the Galaxy A33 5G. Now, both can be found in the current market in the range of R$ 1,900.
With the same short in retail at the moment, we closed the duel with a draw.

The G62 was not able to stand up to the A33 in this clash of 5G intermediaries. Moto still managed to present a larger and more fluid screen to help in games, a sound with greater power and a superior battery in autonomy.
However, on the other hand, the Galaxy has a more resistant design, an AMOLED screen with greater brightness and a system with greater longevity. Not to mention the faster multitasking performance and faster loading, plus the better camera set for the higher quality rear photos, 4K videos and portrait mode selfies without blowing up the background.
As they are available for the same price at the moment, within the national market, the most advantageous choice ends up being the Samsung model, for delivering the most complete experience among these models compatible with the fifth generation network.
