With over 160 champs, there are countless match-ups in League of Legends that sometimes work more or less well for certain champions. On Reddit, a user asked what the worst match-up in the game was and he got an answer from a developer.

On Reddit , user SweetBunnn asked what the worst matchup in the game was. While many users suspect match-ups with Kalista, Yuumi or Irelia, Riot developer GalaxySmash responds to the post.

According to him, statistically speaking, Malphite versus Sylas is the worst match-up. Of 3 of the 4 worst match-ups, it’s always Malphite vs Sylas. This affects toplane, midlane and the jungle.

In this match-up, Malphite is just bad

Actually every champion has a counter and a match-up that they lose. You can see this quite clearly on sites like U.GG in the statistics for the current patch. You can also divide this into lanes and different ranks.

Basically, Malphite is doing quite well in the current meta. With a win rate of 51.79% (as of October 17, 2023), he is a solid pick on the top lane. But even in the statistics you can see how he hardly has a chance against Sylas. But why is that?

On the one hand, this is because Sylas is an AP Mage. However, Malphite is incredibly good against AD champions because it works well with armor. On the other hand, this is due to Malphite’s ultimate. In team fights, it’s one of the best ults in the game, and Sylas can easily steal it with his own ultimate and use it for his own team.

Sometimes it’s fun to play the bad champs and builds:

But even as a player you can have bad match-ups that you simply can’t win against. Which champion do you hate playing against? And what is your favorite counter? Write it to us in the comments.
