To promote Bard it is necessary that this technology spreads as much as possible until it is available on the devices we use every day. So here is Google’s intention to make it easy to access generative artificial intelligence by creating a widgets ad hoc for Pixel smartphones (and tablets).
The first signs of Bard’s landfall on android they are hidden within the AI code: of course, even now it is possible to access the chatbot from Mountain View devices, but exclusively via the web. A deeper integration would allow artificial intelligence to be always available directly from the home screen, and perhaps in the near future also through Search or a dedicated app.
NOT YET CLEAR HOW THE WIDGET WORKS
What the real function of the widget is is still not entirely clear: it certainly won’t be a simple shortcut to the web version, perhaps it could offer some conversation suggestions and other specific tools. Bard is currently only available to a limited number of testers: we’ll see if Google decides to extend the trial to Pixel device owners by providing them with a special “pass” to try the experimental version and skip the waiting list.
Despite public concerns, the development of artificial intelligence continues apace. Yesterday, US Vice President Kamala Harris met with representatives of four companies – including Alphabet – to discuss precisely the future of AI and its “responsible” growth. Meanwhile, Google continues to expand the technology with integration into proprietary apps and with the transition from the LaMDA language model to PaLM.
