Mark Gurman said this last September that the works to launch Apple Pay Later proceeded more slowly than expected and that the service would not arrive before 2023. The forecast of the Bloomberg journalist believed to be very close to Apple is correct: 2022 is over and not even a shadow of Pay Later, but with the second tear to the calendar of new year the impasse has been unlocked.

no conditionals, to speak is directly Tim Cook. CNBC colleagues report it: “Cook added that Apple employees are testing a buy-now-pay-later service”they wrote quoting the Apple CEO, who allegedly added: “Will be launched soon”. The timing couldn’t have been better. Apple’s financial results for the last quarter have been public for a few hours, the first in years that hasn’t closed with year-on-year growth.

iPhones, Macs and company down with the only exception being iPads, a trauma for a company now at ease in the role of steamroller, led by bigwigs. However, they have taken care of reducing the losses: the services. It’s the highest-margin of Apple’s businesses, and it was pretty much the only one to hold up in a bad quarter. Soon Apple Pay Later could also contribute, bringing profits to the treasurers of Cupertino. Apple Pay Later is a “trivial” service that allows you to pay interest or commissions a little at a time, and Apple obviously needs a service of this type.

For now it relies on external institutes for customer loans, in Italy, for example, it collaborates with Findomestic and Agos to which it ensures nice nest egg through the interest applied to the installments of the items sold on the Apple Store, diverting those looking for cheaper options elsewhere. When Pay Later arrives, these customers will be able to buy directly on the official channels and Apple will be able to keep the profit margins for itself, it will share less with Amazon and company. Not long now, thinks and evidently hopes Tim Cook.
