Acer introduces Chromebook Vero 514 as its new sustainable notebook

On Tuesday night (23), Acer held its event green Day to present its new Chromebook Vero 514. Like the entire Vero line, this laptop is yet another creation with environmentally friendly materials.

The notebook has a construction made up of 30% recyclable plastic (PCR) in its body, 50% in the keyboard and speakers, and plastic destined for the oceans in the coolers. The touchpad is made from OceanGlass, while the package has sustainable materials.

It has MIL-STD-810H military toughness certification to survive in extreme conditions. In its technical specifications, the Chromebook Vero 514 comes equipped with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics. Other memory and storage details were not disclosed.

The screen is 14 inches, with Full HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It has 300 nits of brightness and a color rate of 100% of the sRGB standard. There is a Full HD webcam and DTS audio with Smart Amplifier. In terms of connectivity, the highlights are the Wi-Fi 6E and the USB-C (2x), USB-A 3.2 and HDMI ports.

In addition to the base model, Acer also made the Chromebook Enterprise Vero 514 official, which adds advanced enterprise-focused security features within the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade.

Prices and availability

Acer has yet to reveal pricing and availability information for the Chromebook Vero 514 and its Enterprise version. These details will depend on each release region.

The company announced that its plan is to incorporate up to 30% PCR plastic in its main products by the year 2025. It is still part of the RE100 initiative since 2021, with a plan to provide 100% renewable energy by 2035. plans include investing 7 billion euros by 2030 in clean operations, to reduce polluting gas emissions by up to 29 million tonnes during the period.
