Development of iOS 16 has finished. He brings it back Mark Gurman within its newsletter Power Onso let’s not expect big news in the betas that still separate us from the release of the stable version, ready to debut at the beginning of September on the occasion of the keynote dedicated to iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8.

So both iOS 16 and watchOS 9 are ready for publication, the developers will take care of correcting any bugs in these two weeks. We will still have to wait instead for iPadOS 16 – as already indicated above – and for macOS Ventura, both coming in autumn (October).

NEW DETAILS ABOUT ADVERTISING IN MAPS

There are also new details regarding advertising on iOS, a strategy that Apple seems to want to embrace in the short term. Starting next yearsays Gurman:

I believe it works […] are already underway to launch search ads within the Apple Maps app and we should start seeing them starting next year.

In practice the Maps app it would conform to what we already see above App Store with apps suggested in the form of ads and appearing in the list before the others. In short, let’s not expect website-style banners, but only sponsored restaurants or shops. Speaking of the App Store, advertising will also be extended to tab Today. After all, if it is true that Cupertino wants to go from the current 4 billion dollars a year in advertising revenue on iOS to 10 billion, the changes will have to be quite radical.
