OpenAI’s ChatGPT app for iOS is available in 11 new markets.

Namely, these are Albania, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, and the UK, and OpenAI says there are more to come “soon.”

OpenAI launched its ChatGPT app for iOS a week ago, initially limiting it to the U.S. market. The app syncs your history across devices, and can take voice input via OpenAI’s speech-recognition system Whisper. If you’re subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, you’ll get the ChatGPT 4 capabilities on your iOS app, too.

One thing is still missing, though: An Android ChatGPT app. OpenAI said that Android is “next” when it launched the iOS app, but the company stayed mum on the subject since then.

The wider availability of ChatGPT in European markets may bring some interesting developments, given that ChatGPT is banned in one major market there: Italy. Germany’s Data Protection Chief Ulrich Kelber also said(opens in a new tab) that the country might ban ChatGPT, though nothing has been made official yet. OpenAI previously said(opens in a new tab) it would consider leaving the European Union altogether if it couldn’t comply with artificial intelligence regulations there.
