Microsoft has updated the Android subsystem of Windows 11 and Android 13 for all Insiders – even those subscribed to the Beta and Insider Preview channels: the news is official, and the update (WSA version 2211.40000.11.0) should already be distributed.

The Redmond giant had started a test phase in a rather discreet way as early as last December, but required participation in the specific WSA Preview program, which is separate from the “usual” Insider initiative for Windows. The main changes, in addition to the version number update, are as follows:

  • Boot time improvements
  • Improved mouse click detection
  • Clipboard stability improvements
  • Improvements to the app window resizing feature
  • Improvements to the reliability of opening media files in Windows
  • Application jumplists support app shortcuts

According to the official roadmap, Microsoft is still working on some important features for the WSA, which allows you to run Android apps and games on your Windows 11 PC thanks to the presence of the Amazon Appstore. These include support for Picture-in-Picturefile transfer between the Android container and the host OS, and local network access by default.

At the moment it is not clear when Android 13 will also be made available in the stable channel, which is currently stuck at the 12L version, released this summer. We remind you that the minimum requirements include 8 GB of RAM and an x64 processor.
