There will be no other application now that is not official Twitter, without any other option to third-party apps. This would finally mark a closure for Twitter from the world of third-party Twitter clients that will no longer be accessible at all.

The blue platform has been aware for a few days that it could finally end third-party applications for Twitter. Since a week ago, there were already different third-party apps such as Tweetbot and Twitterrific presented multiple questions regarding their connection to Twitter. This problem can also be reflected in the users using these applications.

Apps in this way continued to present conflict with users for several days, although Twitter continued to have a low profile and no statement. That’s how it was on Tuesday that the Twitter developer profile indicated that it was returning to its previous APIs. Twitter noted that “this may cause some apps to not work.”

Some developers from third-party clients quickly took to their accounts to express their dissatisfaction with the rules that Twitter indicated regarding restricting their applications and that the platform had not announced itself in this regard. The only responses they got to these multiple conflicts were only a few hearts in their tweets.

Twitter bans third-party apps

According to reports from Engadgetthe blue platform added a clause to said agreement with the developers which terminates all external clients.

The company itself added the clause to “the restrictions section of the Twitter developer agreement.” This was renewed just one day ago with a new clause that prohibits the use of the new Licensed materials to create or attempt to create a service or product that is “similar to Twitter applications”.

Given this statement, Twitterrific, which was a more recognized third-party app, has decided to stop continuing the app, even ceasing to be available in the iOS and macOS App Store. Tweetbot took a new approach to the next Mastodon client.

Twitter is trying to ensure that all possible users in the world only make use of its official app, within which you will only have Elon Musk’s ads. So you can also subscribe to Twitter Blue, which is the only official paid subscription service that the company has. In this way, Twitter is making multiple quite particular changes.
