POCO F5 Pro brings top-of-the-line screen, performance, battery and price | Analysis / Review

The Poco F5 Pro is one of the most desired cell phones of the moment for bringing top-of-the-line hardware at an intermediate price. Would this be Xiaomi’s new flagship killer or is it better to invest in a more advanced last generation cell phone from the competition?

The F5 Pro arrives as a kind of spiritual successor to the Poco F4 GT, although the new one doesn’t have a gamer appeal and doesn’t come with those dedicated gaming triggers. In return we get a cell phone with IP53 certification for good resistance against dust and splashes. The curvy design graces with details that mimic carbon fiber.

The screen surpasses some top-of-the-line cell phones with its 6.67 inches with Quad HD + resolution, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz on a 12-bit OLED panel, which guarantees the reproduction of 68 billion different colors. In addition, HDR+ and Dolby Vision are supported, which guarantees full compatibility with any streaming service. Stereo sound has good power and quality, despite being below the predecessor.

The F5 Pro brings the most powerful hardware from the previous year, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 combined with 12 GB of RAM. It did well in our multitasking-focused speed test, where Xiaomi still disappoints a lot. It managed to hold all apps open and also ran all the games we tested at maximum graphics quality effortlessly.

The battery lasts a long time, ranking among the best we’ve tested. The recharge time is also pleasing as it takes 50 minutes to have a full battery. It may not impress as much as the F4 GT, which recharges in half the time, but it is well above what Samsung delivers on more expensive cell phones.

The photographic set consists of a 64 MP camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The main one makes good pictures, while the others can break the branch sometimes. The 16 MP front makes good selfies even at night and the camcorder records in 8K, but if you want to get rid of the shakes you need to reduce the resolution. Focus is snappy and sound capture is a bit muffled and suffers from wind noise.

Is the Poco F5 Pro able to outperform flagships from other brands? We think not. To check out all the details and see how it fares against top-of-the-line phones from the previous generation, just access the full review via the link below:
