Lego is building a game console again: The 10306 building set imitates the Atari 2600, will be launched on August 1 and costs 240 euros.
Lego dares again to replicate a classic game console: After the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) set presented in 2020, the company has now presented the Atari 2600 made of blocks. It consists of 2532 parts and costs 240 euros.
The Atari 2600 will be available from Lego from August 1st, but only on the Lego website and in official Lego stores. In addition to the console, the Lego construction set also includes a joystick, several plug-in modules and small scene replicas from well-known Atari games: “Asteroids”, “Adventure” and “Centipede” come with mini sets to set up. Lego recommends the set for adults.

The console itself can be opened up to reveal a little nerd room from the 80s. The buttons on the console can be pushed, and the joystick can also be moved. It comes with a cable that you can use to connect the joystick to the console – but that doesn’t seem to have a function. The three included plug-in modules can be stored in a mini drawer or plugged into the console as befits their status.
With the console replica, Lego is belatedly celebrating the 50th anniversary of the video game pioneer: On June 27, 1972, Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney founded Atari. The Atari 2600 is one of the best-known products from the cult company.
Lego already gained experience in building building block game consoles in 2020 with the NES, which is part of a series of collaborations between Lego and Nintendo. The NES comes with a television that you can crank to hop a Mario minifigure across the simulated screen. The Lego NES consists of 2650 bricks and, at a price of 230 euros, is slightly cheaper than the new Atari model.
