Google Pixel Fold, new aesthetic details: some confirmations and some oddities
We return to talk about Google Pixel Fold, or Notepad or in any case it will be called the first folding smartphone of the Mountain View giant: and it is always thanks to Digital Chat Station, the Chinese leaker who just the day before yesterday told us that Foxconn would start it mass production. More than technical specifications, this time the source engages in device description real. Several interesting details emerge – perhaps not too many unpublished, but one more confirmation is better than one less, especially if it comes from a source with a good reputation in the field. Schematic:
- The form factor of the smartphone, as has already been anticipated several times, is in Galaxy Z Fold style: flexible main display that folds inwards and external secondary display that allows you to use the device when closed. But:
- The aspect ratio is more similar to that of OPPO Find N than to those of the Samsung device. In other words: the device is more squared and compact.
- The main display is “relatively compact” in size.
- There are no notches or holes in the main display: there is a single camera but it is very small and resides on the outside of the screen – “on the body”, to quote the exact words of the source. In short, it seems that there will be frames somewhere.
- The external display instead has a central hole for the camera, a bit in the style of Pixel 6, 6 Pro and 6a (but let’s say that today it is the solution that is the most popular, in general).
- The back of the smartphone resembles, from the design point of view, the new generation Pixel 7 whose presentation is scheduled for this fall.
Of course we cannot fail to mention that the original post is in Chinese and therefore some important details may have been lost in the translation; in short, let’s take note but let’s also allow ourselves a bit of healthy doubt. The fact is that apparently the work on the device continues, now a couple of damage after the appearance of the very first indiscretions. Will it arrive by the end of the year? Difficult to say: some rumors say yes, others that we will have to wait until the beginning of 2023. Who will be right?
