Google I/O, the annual event dedicated to developers to be held on May 10 in Mountain View, both face-to-face and online, could be the right opportunity to get to know the Pixel Fold, Google’s first foldable smartphone. We have been talking about it for years, the first rumors date back to 2019.
So far, however, there have been no official confirmations but on the other hand, a lot of information has arrived on the alleged characteristics, possible benchmarks, certifications, many renderings and even a 1: 1 scale model made on the basis of a CAD drawing. In short, the device may have now reached an advanced stage of development and the time would seem to be ripe for an official debut, so much so that the first live “sightings” would also be starting.
This is exactly what a Reddit user claims who published a series of photos taken in a New York subway car in which a man is seen holding a smartphone with extremely thin edges in his hands. The images are far from clear and they do not allow you to be sure that it can actually be a Google smartphone.
The Reddit user claims to have recognized it from the design of the back, similar to that of the current Pixels, but would not have been able to take any other photos as the man tried to keep it hidden as much as possible.

The device visible in the only clearer photo it could actually be a closed Pixel Fold on which there is a video playing on the external 5.8 inch display. On the upper part, part of the hinge similar to the one seen in the renders would also be visible.
All that remains is to wait a couple more months to find out more. 2023, as mentioned several times, would really seem to be the year of leaflets with as many as 37 models expected, a sharp increase compared to the 19 arrived in 2022 by 7 brands, and shipments that should rise by around 45%.
