Elon Musk tends to create a stir with his consecutive public statements. One of the latest, which went somewhat unnoticed for a few days, was revealed through his Twitter account, as usual.

Through a tweet, the CEO of Neuralink, his neuroscience company, claimed to have uploaded a copy of his brain to the cloud, from where he executed a virtual clone of himself, molded through that data, with whom he managed to hold a conversation.

“I already did,” Musk replied when asked if he had conversed with a clone of his brain uploaded to the cloud

Already did it

A scenario worthy of a science fiction movie scene, was what the creator of Dogecoin, Shibetoshi Nakamoto, raised in a tweet in which asked his followers: “If you could upload your brain to the cloud and talk to a virtual version of yourself, would you be friends?”. Among the hundreds of responses received in that publication of July 18, there is a particularly interesting one, which went unnoticed during the first days. Elon Musk claimed he had already done it.

Only several days after Musk’s comment, limited to a brief “I already did it”, the press began to react. As there are no further details in the message, let alone an official announcement available from any other source, this can be attributed to Neuralink, his neuroscience company, considering the tenor of the statement.

It should be noted that Neuralink works on a brain-computer interface, so that humanity “discovers” how to coexist with advanced artificial intelligence, according to its CEO. On this project, a remarkable demonstration was the one carried out with a pair of monkeys controlling a video game with the mindwhich ended with unfortunate difficulties. Also, the possibility of control a mobile with your mindis a scenario already anticipated by the company as its first product.

Although the company dedicated to the research and development of neuroscience projects has already made public its intentions to soon carry out human clinical trialsthis is a future step that is not yet feasible, as they do not have the relevant authorizations to begin this process.

Until now, the ability to “clone” a brain and upload its data to the cloud has not been publicly demonstrated, at least not with today’s technology. Elon Musk’s response could be a joke, or a preview of some revealing future announcement.
