Transition from Windows 11 to 12 will be marked by AI, says Microsoft exec

The transition from Windows 11 to Windows 12 will be marked by the implementation of new technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) in the next generation of the system, is what Panos Panay, head of products at Microsoft, said at CES 2023 in a conversation he addressed AI Engine tool present in Ryzen chips.

The executive was not committed to saying what will be new in the next Windows, but he gave some clues about what users can expect from advances in the coming years. According to Panay, AI is a resource that is “radically changing all aspects of people’s lives”, pointing to the importance of this functionality.

He explains that Windows 12 should be released with notable advances in relation to AI, including the possibility of generating texts, images, lines of code and more functions using the engine. While this novelty should be more pronounced in the next generation, Panay says that the current Windows 11 should benefit from the advanced functions of the Ryzen 7040 series.

On the occasion, the big tech employee also commented on the future of cloud computing, stating that in the coming years this feature should allow performing tasks that are not yet possible. Despite the lack of official information from Microsoft, rumors point to the possibility that the software will be made official in 2024.
