Cameo is an application that allows you to ask a famous person to send a message of birthday wishes, hope, encouragement… to a family member or friend of your choice, in exchange for paying a small amount of money. This varies depending on the cache that the famous person places, and also on what they have to do: send a message, take a photo or record themselves on video, among other options.

Now Cameo, an increasingly popular app in Latin America and also in Spain, where it was launched only a few months ago, adds a new functionality to its catalog of services to get in touch with famous people: video calls of up to 10 minutes.
Thus, under the name of “Cameo Live”, if you want to surprise a friend or family member with a gift that they will never forget, you can facilitate a videoconference with their favorite famous character, of whom they are very, very much a fan, through Cameo thanks to this new functionality that the company has been testing for several months.
Video call prices vary based on celebrity cache and availability. In addition, this can reject the request that a user has made if he does not want or cannot attend the video call at the indicated time and his money will be returned.
This is not entirely a novelty, because the company already launched the “Cameo Zoom” service in 2020, which allowed video calls of up to 10 minutes, but were managed through Zoom. The service was closed shortly after, but now Cameo launches it as a tool within its own application, that is, without the need to use Zoom.
Last year Cameo launched Cameo Calls, which allows you to make video calls but shorter, up to 2 minutes long. In addition, they are only one-to-one calls, without the possibility that groups of friends can enjoy contact with the famous person, something that the new recently launched functionality does allow.
In the same way, Cameo has also just launched the possibility of sending a direct message to the chosen celebrity, through the application. Although, in this case, it is not guaranteed that the celebrity will respond, the operation of the messaging system is similar to that of any social app, such as Instagram’s direct messaging.
