Several users of Windows 10 It is 11 reported that the latest April Patch Tuesday updates for Microsoft operating systems Microsoft tries to persuade browser users Google Chrome to migrate to Edge.

As reported by the Neowin website, the new updates triggered a page with the default application settings options every time a web link is opened with Google Chrome to try to get users to open it with Edge.

User Joris Geutjes posted about it on the Google Chrome forum. Check out the story below:

Since today, we have noticed in several Windows 10 users (version 22H2 with latest updates from Microsoft released on April 11, 2023) that when launching the Google Chrome browser, the default settings of the applications open every time. We have already set Google Chrome as the default browser several times. But that doesn’t make any sense. Restoring all Google Chrome default settings also has no effect. Even uninstalling Google Chrome and reinstalling it doesn’t provide a solution.

The report was widespread on the forum and around 400 people voted positively by choosing the “I have the same question” option. On the Microsoft forum, a user posted the same question and also had about 87 votes in agreement.

In the same Google forum thread, a user offers a solution which is basically to uninstall the updates (Windows 11 22H2: KB5025239; Windows 11 21H2: KB5025224 and Windows 10: KB5025221). This seems to solve the problem.

It is worth noting that it is not today that Microsoft wants people to use its Edge browser. The company often adopts somewhat desperate means to persuade more users to try the software and choose it as your default browser.
