Microsoft decided to clarify the Windows update schedule, so that users and companies can prepare for future versions of the system more quickly. On its official blog, on Thursday (27), the company confirmed that the Windows 10 will not receive new feature updates after version 22H2, released in October 2022.

This means that Windows 10 will only have security updates and bug fixes until the end of support on October 14, 2025. While the operating system still has two years of guaranteed updates, Microsoft encourages users to start moving to Windows 11, the latest version of the platform.

If it is still not possible to upgrade to Windows 11, big tech suggests that users and companies install the 22H2 version of Windows 10, which has all the latest features and improvements, until the time to migrate to the new edition.

Windows 10 was officially presented in July 2015, correcting a series of functions widely criticized by Windows 8.1 users. The classic layout of the Start menu, for example, made its return with visual elements inherited from the previous version, pleasing users of desktops, convertible notebooks and tablets simultaneously.

Windows 11 LTSC will arrive in 2024

Microsoft also talked about the Long Term Service Channel (LTSC) for Windows 11. This slower-paced update channel is geared toward the “Enterprise”—optimized for enterprises—editions of the operating system.

According to the Redmond giant, the Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC will be available in the second half of 2024allowing companies and organizations to have access to a more reliable and stable version of the operating system to run critical applications in their operations.

Despite being close to its second anniversary, Windows 11 is still much less popular than Windows 10. Users of older computers sacrifice the more modern features and design, and opt for the previous version of the operating system due to its lesser hardware requirements. restrictive.
