The effort could add a fast-growing business to Applied Materials’ traditional portfolio. And it could eventually boost the company’s revenue by billions of dollars a year, should its plans come to fruition. That could have an impact in Austin: Applied has had a manufacturing facility off U.S. Route 290 East for more than 20 years and has considered building another plant in the region.
