I never tire of saying that WhatsApp, although it is not the best instant messaging application, is doing things better lately than I expected. It has been adding many new features. Functions that have been requested by users and because the other applications already have it. But they do not remain only in the most superficial layer. They want to go one step further and abandon the cross of being insecure. It is because of that will add a new security factor in iOS to avoid fraud.

WhatsApp wants to avoid fraud when you start the App for the first time

This messaging application is one of the most used. That is why it is used by millions of users, who are potential targets of those who like to get things criminally and commit fraud. Criminals look for a way being able to scam people through messages that pretend to be true and that ask you for the necessary data to be able to access your account and operate as if it were you.

That’s what happened last year, when a user tried to log into their WhatsApp account for the first time. They were cheated and they were asked for the verification code. In the end, it was the offender who launched the application pretending to be someone else. A complete fraud. Imagine all that he could do taking advantage of the fact that others were unaware that the person you wrote was someone else.

For this reason, and according to specialized page WABetaInfo the Meta company is developing an extra verification code, in order to avoid this type of scam. Those users who start the application for the first time will be asked for a verification code sent by SMS, as is done until now. But also, for greater security, a second verification code will be requested. At the moment it is not known how it will be done or through what application or if it will be a shipment. But what is clear is that it is a good measure.

When the first attempt to log in to a WhatsApp account is successful, another 6 digit code will be needed to complete the process. With that, another message will be sent to the owner of the phone number.

It is not yet known when the measure will be effective or if it will finally become a reality. Let’s hope so, because everything that is more security for users is something positive
