Tesla already allows any electric car to use 116 superchargers in Spain

At the beginning of last February we announced that Tesla was starting a pilot project to allow any electric car, regardless of brand, to use the American motor giant’s superchargers. Now, Tesla has just announced that it opens part of the infrastructure in Spain for any driver who has a zero-emission vehicle.

In this way, in Spain we will have a total of 116 superchargers available through 13 stations located in Albacete, Alcobendas, Almaraz, Aranda de Duero, Atalaya del Cañavate, Barbastro, Benavente, El Ejido, Granada, Jerez, La Seu d’Urgell, Rivabellosa and Seville, as reported by the colleagues at Motor.

With a power exceeding 150 kW the 116 available superchargers are priced at 0.64 euros/kWh, but if you pay a monthly subscription of 12.99 euros you can enjoy a cheaper rate, 0.43 euros/kWh, the price paid by drivers of a Tesla vehicle.

Tesla removes barriers

Until now, only the owners of a Tesla vehicle could access the supercharger network of the American manufacturer. Now, with this movement, the company offers its infrastructure so that any driver who has a vehicle without emissions can charge their electric car at the charging stations of the motor giant.

Keep in mind that the company founded by Elon Musk has implemented different connectors so that any electric vehicle can use its superchargers. It is necessary to have a CCS Combo type connector but it is the most common in the sector, so unless you have a very old electric vehicle, there will be no problem in this regard.

On the other hand, it is necessary to take into account the position of superchargers. The power outlet of some electric cars is not located in the most suitable position precisely, which is why Tesla has asked that its service be used sparingly to avoid an agglomeration of poorly parked vehicles to be able to charge using this network of superchargers.

As the company indicates in a statement “It is possible that the arrangement of some superchargers is not suitable for some cars. Don’t obstruct other cars by parking on the lines if the cable doesn’t comfortably reach your car.”

In addition, the company has added a penalty to drivers who leave their vehicle charging longer than necessary. In this way, 0.50 euros will be paid for each minute that they are connected in excess.

Undoubtedly, excellent news for owners of an electric car in Spain, since from now on you will be able to use the charging stations of the American motor giant.
