A new version of Sonic Origins has received age ratings in South Korea, indicating an official announcement is coming soon.

According to the Gematsu website, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea listed Sonic Origins Plus among its most recent decisions.

As SEGA has yet to officially confirm the existence of Sonic Origins Plus, it’s unclear what that game will contain. However, the company has a history of re-releasing games with extra content and adding Plus to the title.

For example, in 2002 the Sonic Mega Collection collection arrived on the GameCube containing all the hedgehog games released for the Mega Drive / Genesis. Two years later, it released a compilation for PlayStation 2 and Xbox titled Sonic Mega Collection Plus with the addition of six Game Gear titles.

Recently, the company also brought the Plus version of Sonic Mania in 2018, featuring remixed Encore Mode and two new playable characters: Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel.

Sonic Origins Plus could be a port of the base game with the inclusion of all controversial DLCs. The title was released in June 2022 and had three expansion packs priced at BRL 21.50. They featured new missions, extra music tracks and animations in the main menu.

This drew fury from players who complained that content, particularly the main menu animations, should have been included in the base game at no additional cost. To read our review of the game, click here.
