According to IDC Brasil, in the last year the PC market sold 2% fewer devices than in 2021, which generated revenue of R$ 33 billion —corresponding to 10% less than in 2021. During the 12 months of By 2022, approximately 8.6 million computers were sold, of which approximately 6.51 million were notebooks and 2.4 million were desktops, down 7% and 20%, respectively, in addition to 38,000 workstations (up 59%).

The retail business volume was 4.4 million machines sold throughout the year, a result 13% lower than in 2021. In the corporate market, it totaled 4.15 million units, an increase of 15% in the same comparison. As for prices, in 2022, the desktop cost, on average, BRL 3,394, and the notebook BRL 3,946, 2% and 10% lower valuesthan in 2021.


According to the IDC Europe PCs Tracker 4Q2022, in the last quarter of 2022 alone, 2.2 million PCs were sold in Europe, a decrease of 15% compared to the same period in 2021. Of this total, 1.62 million are notebooks and 511 thousand are desktops, which reflects, respectively, a drop of 20% and an increase of 4% compared to October, November and December 2021. In terms of revenue, the fourth quarter of last year totaled around R$ 7.5 billion35% less than in the same three months of 2021.

For 2023, in the corporate segment, more specifically in the areas of government and education, a time for planning bids for the new government begins. For this reason, IDC foresees that such auctions will only take place in the second half of this year. As for consumption, at the turn of the year with retail channels showing a high volume of inventory, 2023 will be quite challenging for the industry.
