A photo of what could be an RTX 4050 leaked online this weekend. We see the box of the graphics card, as imposing as that of the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090, which seems surprising since the graphics card would most likely be smaller. Especially since Nvidia has not yet announced the arrival of such a model.
The RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 have only just hit the market and rumors about other models are already swirling around. On Reddit, a strange photo has been debated since this weekend. Posted by user TheBloodNinja, this one seems to have been taken during an event organized by GALAX, one of Nvidia’s partner manufacturers, with the aim of presenting the new graphics cards.
We thus see the RTX 4090, the new flagship of the brand, alongside its neighbor the RTX 4080 and… the RTX 4050. Indeed, the photo shows a box on which is written the mention RTX 4050, even though Nvidia n never mentioned the arrival of such a model. The same goes for leaks. For now, we only know that an RTX 4070 should land in the coming months, probably not before 2023.

So what is this strange graphics card that is (officially) not supposed to exist? For the time being, the question remains unanswered, because Nvidia has never officially communicated on models other than its RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. In the comments, some do not hesitate to express their doubts as to the veracity of this picture. One of the arguments put forward is in particular the size of the box.

Indeed, it seems to be similar to that of the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. However, if by chance Nvidia offered a graphics card for the general public, as the name of the RTX 4050 seems to indicate, it seems much more likely that this one is smaller than its counterparts, especially considering the monstrous size of the latter. For now, the most likely hypothesis would be that GALAX would have used the same box as for the RTX 4090 by simply modifying the packaging.
