Meta unveiled an expansion of its partnership with the NBA and WNBA, making its Quest line the official virtual reality headsets of these sports leagues.

This will provide the opportunity to watch professional professional basketball games in a brand new immersive experience.

Meta now offers the experience of watching professional basketball in virtual reality

Users of the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro devices will be able to watch more than 50 games from the NBA professional basketball league and its women’s counterpart, the WNBA, through the XTADIUM and Meta Horizon Worlds applications. Along with the ability to witness these games in a virtual reality environment, they will also be able to access additional content through an NBA League Pass subscription.

Between the dates of these leagues, five matches will be attended by famous storytellers and will be broadcast in an immersive 180-degree experience.

In addition to the aforementioned leagues, this proposal also includes the NBA G League and the NBA 2K League.

Meta Horizon Worlds users will be able to access highlights, recaps, and archive content. For XTADIUM users, high-quality videos and the possibility of organizing parties to watch games with friends will be offered. It is worth mentioning that this latest application is only available in the United States.

Also, this association with NBA and WNBA includes the creation of an NBA Arena on the Meta platform, where users will be able to watch games with friends, compete in interactive mini-games and show their support for their favorite teams. Additionally, they will be able to purchase licensed NBA and WNBA apparel for their avatar in the Meta Avatar store, to display on social media like Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

This proposal presented by Meta offers a completely immersive experience, which can bring a new degree of emotion for those basketball enthusiasts who do not have the opportunity to attend these sporting events in person.

Yesterday, January 23, the first game under this modality was broadcast. During the remainder of the month, there are five games left that will be broadcast under this new dynamic presented.
