New bug? Pixel 7 and 7 Pro display poor image quality in video calls

Google’s Pixel line is popularly known for its refinements in camera sensors and high build quality with a modern design that differentiates it from major competitors. However, owners of the latest generation models are complaining about a problem that has arisen after a few months and is related to the hardware of the phones.

According to reports on social networks, both the Pixel 7 and its more powerful “brother”, the Pixel 7 Pro, are presenting a possible defect that makes the volume buttons come off for no apparent reason. These components wear out with use and may fall out after a few years, however, both models were launched less than six months ago.

As Nicholas Sutrich, a journalist for Android Central and owner of a Pixel 7 Pro, says, the volume rocker came loose from the structure even with little use and great care. He explains that the Google smartphone is his secondary device and is rarely used on a daily basis, so there was no premature wear of the part.

According to Sutrich, the number of reports increased considerably from December 25th, but the manufacturer claims that this is “misuse” by consumers, invalidating any chance of replacement under warranty. The button can be easily snapped into place, but is likely to fall off again until replaced.

This is the first time that the latest generation has what appears to be a hardware defect, but in recent months several bugs in Android 13 have been reported by users and corrected by the company. We don’t know if Google will maintain its position of denying the guarantee or if it will be granted upon many reports.
