The sanctions imposed by the United States made the Huawei loses about 80 million customers. The numbers were revealed by Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi and general manager of Redmi.
According to the executive, about 50 million of these consumers lost by Huawei ended up migrating to Xiaomi, since the company offers competitive prices and good quality smartphones.
Already another 20 million ended up buying an iPhone and expanding Apple’s market share mainly in China, something that was revealed by several market surveys.
Finally, Honor’s delay in disconnecting from Huawei ended up hurting the transfer power of users. As a result, only 10 million customers ended up in the Honor ecosystem.
Lu Weibing also points out that the fall of Huawei ended up leaving a huge gap, especially in the Chinese smartphone market. Therefore, filling the competitor’s space was a task that required a lot of strategy and production capacity.
It should be remembered that currently Huawei still sells smartphones in China. The company bets its chips on flagship devices, but unfortunately they do not have a 5G connection and this has turned away many consumers.
With that, the company will only be able to rebuild itself when it has access to the fifth generation network and proprietary chips, something that rumors say could end up happening soon.
