There is nothing more frustrating when watching a video on YouTube than constant advertising. The 5, 10 or 30 seconds of advertising that appear more often than we would like become a headache.

Some users choose to use ad blockers to avoid these advertisements. However, that solution already has its days numbered.

YouTube will not allow ad blockers

If you are a free user of YouTube you have to assume that you will spend a lot of time watching ads. However, between videos, the amount of ads that YouTube shows can be exhausting.

One shortcut some users have found is to use ad blockers. That is, they install an advertising blocker in their web browser and activate it when they enter YouTube. It is not a situation that the Google team has been unaware of, although it has never taken action to prevent this behavior from users.

A situation that could change shortly. As several users have reported, YouTube interrupts browsing when it detects that the user has an active ad blocker. When this happens, it shows a popup saying that ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube.

Allow ads or switch to YouTube Premium

On the other hand, it reminds the user, in a friendly way, that advertising is what allows YouTube to be used for free by users around the world. And then, the dilemma: allow ads on YouTube or go to YouTube Premium.

That is, you deactivate the ad blocker to continue using YouTube for free, or you will have to opt for a subscription to watch videos without advertising. At this time, these messages are just part of a test the YouTube team is running to encourage users to turn off ad blockers.

So even this ban is not appearing in a massive way, but is being tested randomly with some users. However, it does let you see what YouTube might be planning so that users can’t evade the ads.
