A small but interesting makeover of Google Chrome is coming, at least for desktop operating systems. Colleagues of 9to5google managed to find and enable a new experimental flag, whose name leaves very little to the imagination: chrome://flags/#chrome-refresh-2023. Needless to expect a twist on what we’ve seen so far – there are minor tweaks and refinements. For instance:
- A thin dark line better outlines the boundary between Windows interface elements and the browser actual in the area where the tabs are listed.
- Buttons and text entry fields abandon the rectangular shape with rounded corners in favor of the “pill” style increasingly popular in Google software thanks to Material You.
- Support al had also previously been observed dynamic theme based on the background of the New Tab page and a new style for the toggles, as demonstrated by the animation contained in the tweet below:
As part of Chrome’s 2023 refresh, Google will change the design of the toggles, this is how they would look like: https://t.co/ku0vvRJRx1

It is necessary to specify that development is still ongoing and Google may have other surprises in store for its users. There are no more precise indications on a possible release date of the refresh. Last detail: if you want to personally try out the new graphics, you need to install Chrome Canary.
