Mobvoi is developing a new smartwatch from the TicWatch series and is looking for reviewers/testers for a model that this “about to be released” and which aims to become a benchmark for the Wear OS platform competing with Samsung and Google itself.
Samsung is the world’s leading mobile producer and Google’s largest partner in Android. But both have spent separate efforts in the wearable segment. The first opting for Tizen OS and the second for the lack of development of Wear OS. The consequences have been as expected: the Apple Watch widely dominate sales.
Union make force and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch4, in addition to improving hardware and physical activity and health monitoring functions, came to market with the great novelty of Google’s Wear OS operating system. Really, it was the best model to experiment with the platform.
New Mobvoi TicWatch
After what has been considered a period of “exclusivity” between Google and Samsung to promote the platform, models from other manufacturers with Wear OS 3, the latest version of the system, have been arriving. One of the highlights was the Montblanc Summit 3 and now another one with potential has come to light.
The new flagship Mobvoi TicWatch is promoted with five main features:
- Improved premium design, flagship model.
- Long duration battery.
- NFC payments compatible with Google Pay.
- IP68 water resistance, GPS, speaker and microphone
- New evaluation of fatigue and improvement of the sensors.
The new version points to an improved version of the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, a great model with Snapdragon Wear 4100, 1 GB of RAM and a 577 mAh battery that offers up to 72 hours in “smart mode”. A fundamental change in design is not expected, so the watch would keep the two typical side buttons, without a rotating crown and generously sized Pro/Ultra models.
Mobvoi’s new TicWatch will have to compete with two behemoths, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch5 and Google’s own-brand Pixel Watch. And all together prevent Apple Watch from dominating the market by putting Wear OS where it could have been for years.
