If you’re looking for a mobile workstation, look out for the new Lenovo ThinkPad P16. A high-end machine with the latest Intel processors, dedicated NVIDIA graphics, massive amounts of memory and storage, and the latest connectivity features.
Intel introduced the new Alder Lake-HX processors last week and on that basis we have already seen great gaming laptops like the new ASUS or Lenovo itself. Now we have the first workstation that uses them and, as expected, it is of a superlative degree to please any professional.
Lenovo ThinkPad P16
This machine mounts a screen of 16 inches with several panels to choose from, from an IPS with FHD resolution to a multi-touch OLED with native resolution UHD+ for 3840 x 2400 pixels, both with 16:10 aspect ratio. Depending on the variant chosen, buyers get a 170W or 230W power supply to power a large capacity battery with 94 WHr.
As we said above, the ThinkPad P16 launches the Alder Lake HX CPUs up to the most powerful versions Core i9 with 16 cores and 24 threads processing, while the graphic section is covered by the professional graphics NVIDIA RTX A5500.
Its memory and storage capacity is enormous and you can mount up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM at 4800 MHz and PCIe Gen4 solid state drives up to 8 TB. To keep temperatures in check, Lenovo has designed an entirely new cooling solution with dual fans, heat pipes, dual vapor chambers, and additional air intake for the keyboard area. The machine uses an aluminum chassis with a weight of 2.95 kg.
They have all kinds of connectivity elements including Thunderbolt 4.0 or Wi-Fi 6E ports to finish off a truly impressive configuration. Also HDMI 2.1 video output, USB 3.2 type C and type A ports, headphone jack, webcam with privacy shutter and optional support for 4G LTE broadband.
The Lenovo ThinkPad P16 will be available later this month with a base price of $1,979. An impressive machine for those looking for a state-of-the-art mobile workstation.
