Intel’s first Arc desktop graphics card appears to be reasonably playable in Cyberpunk 2077 at 2560×1440. However, an Arc A780 high-end graphics card was never planned.

Intel has given an outlook on the performance of its Arc A750 desktop graphics card. Based on some benchmark results, this Alchemist model is said to be up to 17 percent faster than Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060. However, Intel admits that this level of performance is not achieved in all games. While a more powerful Arc A770 is also said to be coming, Intel has denied planning a high-end Arc A780 model.

In a video, Intel shows the Arc A750 desktop graphics card in a Cyberpunk 2077 game benchmark. With a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and high image quality settings, the A750 achieves around 60 frames per second, which is generally considered to be “playable smoothly”. Intel compares the A750 with a GeForce RTX 3060 in four other games, but only shows a few numbers.

Accordingly, Intel’s desktop graphics card is between 6 and 17 percent faster than Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060 gaming graphics card, which went on sale more than a year ago. At the same time, Intel limits that these are a few selected benchmarks that run well on the Arc graphics cards and the underlying Alchemist architecture. Results may vary with other games, but Intel wants to show what the Arc graphics cards can do with the right software.

Intel’s graphics cards come as Arc 3, Arc 5 and Arc 7, with the 3 series already being available in notebooks and the 7 series being said to have the highest gaming performance. Intel hasn’t announced the specification of the A750 graphics card yet, but it’s not the top model. An A770 is also planned and was already presented in a video by a well-known YouTuber over the weekend, but again with no details and even no performance figures or a demonstration of it in action.

There were also rumors of a high-end Arc A780 model that could even compete with a GeForce RTX 3070, but Intel has now firmly rejected it. According to Intel’s graphics marketing manager Ryan Shrout, there is no Arc A780 and this graphics card was never planned.

Intel’s Arc desktop graphics cards have continued to be delayed, but the A750 and A770 are due later this summer, Intel points out. Intel is now in trouble, because with a presentation of the desktop graphics cards in late summer or autumn, the company is slipping into the time window of AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 series and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4000, which are expected later this year.
