Mass production of Apple’s mixed reality headset may be subject to a further delaydespite the rumors of the last few days that it was ready to be presented at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), scheduled for June 5-9.

DIFFERENT FACTORS WEIGHT

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuoat the basis of this decision there could be some caution from Apple towards the potential market prospects of the device. In fact, the viewer could be hampered by several factorsincluding a high price (estimated around $3000), current economic weakness and some technical compromises.

In addition, Kuo believes the viewer may have limited appeal to the general public, but may be more aimed at developers and businesses. For the future, however, the Cupertino company should also make versions that will have a more affordable price.

SHIPPING ESTIMATE DOWN

According to Kuo’s forecast, mass production of Apple’s mixed reality headset could start in the second half or towards the end of the third quarter of 2023. This would mean a reduction in shipments, now estimated at just 200,000-300,000 units for this year, down from a previous forecast of 500,000 units.

Kuo, however, still isn’t entirely sure whether this will delay production will also result in a postponement of the official presentation of the viewer, given that in any case there is an interval of several months between the announcement and the sale of the product.

Apple’s first headset, likely called “Apple Reality Pro,” will be the result of many years of research and development. According to what was stated by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, last week there would have already been an event at Apple headquarters where the headset would have been shown to the so-called “Top 100”, the highest level managers who would have attended a demonstration
