Android 13: Nothing Phone 1 should only receive new system in 2023, says CEO
Update (24/08/22) – JB
Nothing Phone 1 should only receive the Android 13 stable in early 2023. The information was confirmed by the CEO and founder of the brand, Carl Pei, after his latest statement “got bad” among the public.
According to Pei, the first beta version of Android 13 for the smartphone should be released by the end of the year, and the manufacturer’s idea is not to rush updates.
This is because the executive believes that first it is necessary to improve the user experience and offer other adjustments based on consumer feedback.
Since the launch of Phone (1) last month, we’ve closely monitored feedback and have already released 3 system updates with continuous improvements in camera quality, battery life, and new features. While we work 24/7, we won’t rush updates at the expense of the user experience. This also applies to Nothing OS based on Android 13, where we aim to release a beta by the end of the year, with a full release in early 2023.

In other tweets, Carl also recalled that Nothing is working to deliver “fun experiences” within its software.
Therefore, many users believe that the company may end up moving away from pure Android in future versions of its interface. Of course, new details should be commented on in other posts by the executive.

Android 13: Nothing Phone 1 may take a while to update with new software version
Nothing CEO Carl Pei seems to be in no hurry to update his only mobile phone on the market with Android 13. Last week, in response to a Twitter follower, the executive hinted that the Nothing Phone operating system update 1 is not your highest priority right now.
A journalist asked the company’s founder about a forecast for the release of Android 13 for Nothing Phone 1, and Pei simply replied that “a product is more than just its specs, features and version numbers”suggesting that the manufacturer may not be among the first to release the new software to users.

Nothing promises three years of Android update, that is, up to Android 15. The goal is to ensure the phone’s longevity so that users always have the latest features without having to replace the device with a newer model.
The company really seems to be going against the grain of the market, as major brands are already testing their customized versions of Android 13 — even with the public. Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus are just a few of the companies that are already carrying out tests after the stable launch for Google Pixel phones.
Android 13 is an update with discreet changes, especially when compared to the jump between Android 11 and 12, which saw major design changes with Material You, features for gamers and other new features. Furthermore, Nothing claims to prefer performance and stability on NothingOS.
The Nothing Phone 1 launched in July with the Snapdragon 778G Plus, but its real highlight is the “transparent” look that, in previous tests, has shown that it may not be as durable as expected. For now, the company does not comment on its next steps in the market, but there is expectation for a new wireless headset.
