According to a well-informed journalist, the iPhone 14, 14 Max, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will be released together with the Apple Watch Series 8 in just under three weeks.
The date has not yet been officially confirmed, but there are some indications: Apple’s iPhone event this year is scheduled to take place on September 7th – on a Wednesday in just under three weeks.
That’s what Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman thinks citing informed circles out. Traditionally, Apple tends to hold events on Tuesdays; however, the Wednesday fits here because September 5th is the Labor Day holiday in the USA.
iPhone keynote: the most important event of the year
The iPhone keynote is traditionally Apple’s most important event of the year – smartphones generate more than half of the group’s sales. Four different models are expected this year: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Max. The latter would be a new form factor for the group, replacing the iPhone 13 mini. The 14 Max is said to have the same screen size (6.7 inches) as the 14 Pro Max.
This year, according to credible rumors, there will be a clearer distinction between Pro models and “normal” iPhones. Only the Pro variants should get the new A16 SoC and a new look for the TrueDepth camera module on the front, which will now consist of a “double pill” with two different-sized cutouts instead of a continuous notch. Furthermore, a better camera system with a 48-megapixel wide-angle sensor plus 12 megapixels for the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto sensors is probably planned for the Pro models. There is also an always-on display.
Apple Watch with a new design
The second important device at the iPhone event is said to be the Apple Watch. Their Series 8 is said to come in two variants, one of which is planned with a new, slightly larger design as a “Pro” version for extreme sports. In addition, there would be a new sensor for fever measurement in all models.
The new devices are expected to be available around a week and a half after the event (September 16), but it is still unclear whether the corona lockdowns in China in spring will have an impact on individual models. The event should again only take place as a recording, but journalists could be invited to the hands-on. An official invitation is not expected for a few weeks. Gurman warns that Apple’s plans could change. A Mac and iPad event should then be planned for October.
