Clubhouse, the social network of audiochat rooms that achieved great popularity during the first months of 2021 and whose main functionalities were subsequently copied by other platforms such as Twitter -by launching Twitter Spaces-, Facebook or LinkedIn, is experiencing its lowest hours.

Clubhouse continues to look for employees to join its team

After becoming the last great social hit and bringing together more than 15 million people and, above all, after generating great expectations among both users and the media, the application stopped being so popular and little by little it has falling into oblivion, despite having been incorporating new tools and trying to reinvent itself on several occasions.

So much so, that in recent weeks there has been a wave of layoffs in the company, to which has been added the voluntary decision of a dozen employees who have decided to “abandon ship” on their own and follow new professional paths. .

This is confirmed by sources close to the company, which is undergoing a new restructuring process. The layoffs mostly affect programming areas that the company had decided to focus on in recent months, such as sports, news and international.

Clubhouse had tried to become a curator/producer of this type of content in order to reorient its tool more towards a means of transmitting knowledge than a proper social network.

However, it does not seem to have been very successful, as evidenced by the departure of Nina Gregory’s company, who left Clubhouse on June 1 after having arrived months ago to lead the collaboration agreements with the media. Announced Atluru, head of Community and Aarthi Ramamurthy, director of the International area, also left the company in recent days, joining Sean Brown, head of sports, who had left at the beginning of May.

In spite of everything, a company spokesperson who has admitted both the dismissals that have occurred – without specifying the number of them – as well as the voluntary dismissals, assures that in any case the company continues to recruit and there are many positions that has open, in the areas of engineering, product and design.
