Spotify announces the Friends Mix playlist: what it is and how it works
Spotify celebrates International Friendship Day by announcing Friends Mix, a new playlist that allows you to listen and discover new music based on your friends’ musical tastes. “The music – writes the streaming platform – always tells about feelings, human relationships and special bonds, especially friendship “and starting with a number – 11 million, that is, the number of playlists in the world with the word friend / a in the title – he created Friends Mix.
Spotify’s Friends Mix is double-tied to Blend, the function that since last year allows you to test the degree of musical affinity with loved ones. The novelty is in fact a sort of extension of the Blend playlists, from which he takes inspiration to put together a sequence of songs based on what he likes or is trendy in his circle of acquaintances or friends. So Spotify plans to increase user engagement, especially younger ones: 29% of playlists with the word friend / a in the title it is created by the so-called generation Z that is, by the public between 18 and 24 years old, a base that in the month of June alone reproduced contents for 763.901.635 minutes.
The Friends Mix comes automatically generated and presented in the section Created for you section Research by Spotify. If not, Spotify suggests:
- to select Create a Blend playlist from the tile Created for you inside the card Researchand invite a friend to join the playlist
- once the invitation has been accepted, Spotify generates a playlist with a personalized cover image with the most listened to songs: it is the Blend playlist, which is updated daily, adapting to the type of songs listened to
- when you have three Blend playlists with only one friend, the possibility of creating a Friends Mix is activated.
For the moment Friends Mix is only available on platforms iOS and desktop: Android users will necessarily have to be patient.
