Pixel 6 and 7 compared: let’s discover the differences in design and size

Waiting for their expected debut – albeit not yet officially – next 6 October, Pixel 7 and its Pro variant were the protagonists of a video published on YouTube from Unbox Theraphy. These are versions intended for developers, pre-production, and the software is not bootable. This does not detract from that premature hands-on interesting details cannot be extrapolated.

We already know a lot about the next Pixel range, but the differences compared to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are evident if the four smartphones are placed directly next to each other. So yes that, as in the video, details emerge that – albeit minimal – they help us better understand the generational leap.

Let’s start with Pixel 6 and Pixel 7: the new model turns out to be narrower and lower, as well as decidedly lighter. These are the data provided in the video:

  • length:
    • Pixel 6: 74.9mm (official: 74.8mm)
    • Pixel 7: 73.2mm
  • weight:
    • Pixel 6: 205g
    • Pixel 7: 195g

As for the Pixel 7 Pro, the dimensions appear almost identical – at least there is not that difference that we find instead between Pixel 6 and Pixel 7.

  • length:
    • Pixel 6 Pro: 75.89mm
    • Pixel 7 Pro: 76.68mm
  • thickness:
    • Pixel 6 Pro: 9.02mm (official: 8.9mm)
    • Pixel 7 Pro: 8.82mm
    • with photo module: 11.5mm for both
  • weight:
    • Pixel 6 Pro: 208g (official: 210g)
    • Pixel 7 Pro: 209g

These are the “cold” data, in addition to these it is possible to speculate on the reasons why, for example, Pixel 7 is 10g lighter than 6: less capacious battery, perhaps? Here we fall into rumors, on this occasion we prefer to limit ourselves to what is observed in the video, appreciating the differences between the two generations.
