According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, there are still problems with some of Apple’s suppliers for the iPhone 14. What impact this could have on the start of production.
With the ongoing supply chain issues, Apple is also facing some adversity with the iPhone 14. Several manufacturers of components for the new smartphone are said to be unable to deliver on time. However, production is not at risk, says analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities.
Kuo shared in a tweet, that according to his information some manufacturers of display panels and memory chips are having problems. However, the effects on the mass production of the next iPhone generation are manageable, since other manufacturers can probably close the gaps. However, not much can go wrong then – this is one of the reasons why device manufacturers like Apple like to distribute the orders to several companies. Apple is said to be following up on its usual schedule with an announcement in September. The first deliveries of components are already on their way.
What exactly is affected
The LPDDR5 memory is specifically affected. According to Kuo, Apple is completely dependent on Samsung to get the necessary chips for the iPhone 14 Pro. The manufacturers Micron and SK Hynix will therefore not be able to deliver until the fourth quarter at the earliest. Micron was late in getting the necessary certification, while SK Hynix fell behind due to quality issues.
When it comes to the display for the iPhone, Apple initially lacks the manufacturer LG. Samsung and BOE close the gap. There had been production problems at LG, which could, however, be rectified in the short term. When it comes to the display, there is talk that the iPhone 14 Pro should introduce an always-on display. In addition, the notch is to be replaced by a smaller pill and a circular recess.
