Instagram has already launched a revolutionary measure by which all videos posted under 15 minutes in length become Reels automatically. And with that format it will be as they appear published. Instagram had already announced a few weeks ago its intention to enhance the Reels with this change, but it is now when it begins to implement it.

Only videos published from now on with a duration of less than 15 minutes will be published as Reels

The measure will only affect the videos that are published from now on, with those that have already been published remaining in their previous format. It is a change that Instagram began to test a few weeks ago but that over the next few weeks (since they will be launched gradually) it will become definitive for the more than 1,000 million users that the social network has. .

This is one more element in Instagram’s strategy to offer a more immersive experience for users, with full-screen videos and the inclusion of the Reels tab along with the rest of the videos in the user’s profile. In this way the result will be a single page for all video content shared by the user.

With this change comes the novelty that when posting any video shorter than 15 minutes, since it will be automatically shared as a Reel, your original audio can be used by others to generate your own Reel. This will not happen if the user has their Instagram account configured as private or only visible to followers, but if the Instagram account is public, anyone can create their own Reel based on that audio. At least there is an option within the settings that can configure the options so that this does not happen.

For some users the challenge comes with the vertical/horizontal format of the videossince it can be difficult to publish a video in horizontal format if Instagram automatically converts it into a Reel when it is published, whose video format is vertical.
