Although the performance of Sony’s smartphone division is not the best – so much so that in recent months there were also rumors of possible strategy changes in Europe, promptly denied – Sony would now be close to launching the heir of its Xperia 1 III. Let’s talk about the Mark IV version.
After the rumors at the beginning of the year, the first renderings have also arrived, published last February, which have revealed a remarkable similarity to the current model, which has always bucked the market trend. Also in this case, in fact, there would be a display without notches or holes in favor of a traditional frame. The side edges would remain flat with rounded corners and a lot of symmetry. In its place would also remain the 3.5mm audio jack that Sony seems to not want to give up.

In recent days, some information has also arrived on the photographic sector and on the price which, as always, should be quite high: it would start from around 1,370 euros. Regarding the cameras, we talk about a sensor of at least 48MP for both the main and the ultra-wide angle. A periscope telephoto would also be planned, on which, however, there are no further details.
The benchmark present on GeekBench
The rumors of the last few hours are related to the internal hardware and come from the Geekbench benchmarking platform according to which the Sony Xperia 1 IV will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in a “normal” version, not “plus” as assumed. The benchmark shows a score of 1,204 and 3,352, respectively in single-core and multi-core tests. Other data reveal the presence of Android 12 and 12 GB of RAM but it is also assumed the arrival of a 16GB version paired with 512GB of storage.
In addition to this information, there are also those reported by the Japanese newspaper Sumaho Digest, according to which the Xperia I IV will support eSIM in Europe and the United States and will be available in both a single physical and dual SIM version. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has already certified the XQ-CT72 and XQ-CQ72 models as well as the XQ-CT64 model intended for the US market.
