The web version of the messenger WhatsApp will be replaced by a native app for Windows. This was previously only available as a beta.
Messenger WhatsApp is now available as a native app for Windows. So far, you could either use the beta version to write on the desktop, go via a web client or the browser-based app. The stable Windows app is now available for download from Microsoft’s Windows App Store, although it’s free.
According to WhatsApp’s announcement, the app is now faster and more stable than previous communication variants. The design is adapted to the operating system. Notifications and messages can now also be received when the smartphone is offline – so the app also works independently.
In order to use WhatsApp in the Windows app, the application must first be downloaded, then you open the messenger on your smartphone and select the settings in the three-point menu. There you will find the area for additional devices. Scan the QR code that appears on the desktop with the camera of your smartphone and the transfer is complete.
WhatsApp is working on Mac version and Multidevice
A native app for the Mac is still in the works. A beta version can also be installed here, as well as the web-based solution and the browser.
WhatsApp only allows computers as additional devices, tablets or additional smartphones cannot yet be linked to an account. However, WABeta has already found indications in a beta version for Android that a multi-device option is in the works.
According to a US study, however, WhatsApp is no longer particularly popular among teenagers and thus the next generation. According to a survey, only 17 percent should use the messenger. TikTok and Instagram are therefore the favorite applications of young people. Direct messages can also be sent via both apps.
