WhatsApp Reactions can now be used on iOS

After being talked about everywhere and having high expectations of what it would be like, the WhatsApp Reactions feature is finally being introduced for iOS.

The important announcement was made directly by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He wrote a post on Facebook announcing the update. Now iOS and Android users will have the function to react to messages available, similar to what can be done on the Instagram network.

The reactions function is coming

While the feature will finally be available for both iOS and Android starting today, it will take a while to complete its arrival. That is users will have to wait for the update to arrive, as it can take days or weeks to appear and work for everyone.

Users will now be able to see how people react to their messages, having the option to choose from six different emojis. The emojis would be: thumbs up or like, red heart, laughing face, surprised face, crying face and joined hands that express gratitude or prayer.

In addition to this, in case users are wondering, WhatsApp decided to add a small explanation of how the Reactions function works to its FAQ section:

  • First of all, you will need to long press on any message you want to react to.
  • You will see a selection of emojis with which you can react. You must touch the emoji you want from one of them.

This feature works the same way it does on the Instagram social network. since users can also choose to change their reactions if they decide to press for a while on the same message. So they can change their chosen emoji or if they want, also delete the reaction.

On the other hand, WhatsApp decided to highlight some features about the new integrated function:

  • Messages can only have a single reaction added.
  • In the event that you have reacted to a message and it is deleted by the user, the reaction granted will also proceed to disappear.
  • If a message has any reaction, this will be impossible to hide, as well as the accumulated reactions that said message has.
  • It is important to note that if a reaction to a message is deleted, the recipient of the reaction will still be notified. Also, if you do not delete a reaction correctly, you will not have any kind of notification announcing it.

For its part, WABetaInfo declares that within a while, WhatsApp would integrate into this function the possibility of having any type of emoji to react to messages. In addition to this function, it should be remembered that there are multiple integrated updates such as calls for up to 32 people, among others.
