From Xiaomi to Segway to IO Hawk: We tested and compared over 30 e-scooters with batteries and street legal in the list of the best. These are the best models.
The range of street-legal electric scooters in 2022 is almost confusingly large. But how is the range, battery, motor, brakes and workmanship? Our electric scooter tests have shown that not all of them are good. Since this is about your own safety on the road, you should not save in the wrong place. We show which e-scooters you can buy without hesitation.
Which is the best electric scooter?
In the last few months and years we have extensively tested a good 30 e-scooters from 300 euros to 1500 euros and thus cover a good cross-section of the market. We collect all individual tests, guides and purchase advice on our e-scooter topic page . Not all electric scooters made it into this list of the top ten really best e-scooters. We are putting a few exciting candidates in the Alternatives section .
We are staying on the subject of electric scooters and are gradually expanding the test series with current models. Each new test is then included in this leaderboard. It is kept up to date with updates. E-bikes, e-folding bikes and e-skateboards also help with the last mile. We collect all tests and advice on our E-Mobility topic page .
How can I insure e-scooters?
Street legal e-scooters must be insured in Germany if you want to use them on public roads. For this, owners of the electric scooters need a special vehicle liability insurance and a license plate. The contractually covered sum insured varies depending on the insurance company. The annual costs for the electric light vehicle insurance amount to about 15 to 50 euros.
For insurance purposes, the street legal e-scooter comes with vehicle documents. There is, among other things, the vehicle ID number in the age of the e-scooter. Minors under the age of 16 require a declaration of consent and the signature of their parents.
Where can I ride an e-scooter?
If available, e-scooters must drive on cycle paths, cycle lanes or cycle lanes. If these do not exist, e-scooters are allowed to move onto the road. E-scooters are prohibited on sidewalks, in pedestrian zones and in one-way streets against the direction of travel. This does not apply to one-way streets that are marked as “free for cyclists”. In principle, the e-scooters can be driven anywhere where the additional sign “Electric small vehicles free” applies.
Do I need a helmet for e-scooters?
No, there is no obligation to wear a helmet for street legal e-scooters up to 20 kilometers per hour. Nevertheless, we recommend wearing a helmet. There is always a certain risk of accidents caused by other road users, wet surfaces or the driving characteristics of the e-scooter.
Some helmets not only offer a high level of safety, but also additional smart functions such as light, music, telephony or a turn signal. We recommend taking a look at our large guide Smart bike helmets in comparison: Better protection with airbags, turn signals, emergency calls .
Where can I buy e-scooters?
Many electronics retailers, but also many local bicycle dealers offer e-scooters. Almost every e-scooter is also available online. You can often get even better prices when buying online. We recommend prospective buyers to always compare prices online. Our price comparison is ideal for this. In the following we show the currently cheapest and most popular street legal e-scooters with a maximum speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
What should I look out for when buying an e-scooter?
One of the most important points when buying an e-scooter is the motor power. When it comes to acceleration , nobody can fool the Eleglide D1 Master (test report) so easily. No wonder, since it is the only one in the test field with two 500-watt motors. An e-scooter is not allowed to drive faster than 20 kilometers per hour in Germany if it is street legal. However, there is a margin of around ten percent here. Some e-scooters take advantage of this and legally drive 22 kilometers per hour. It actually makes a difference. We recommend paying attention to this. The Eleglide D1 Master is just as indifferent as the Kugoo Kirin G3 (test report). Both easily drive over 50 kilometers per hour. This is only allowed on private property.
Almost all use a thumb lever on the right grip for stepless acceleration . In some models, this sits relatively tight, which can be uncomfortable, especially on longer journeys. This does not happen with models with an index finger grip. Still, we prefer a light thumb grip. Because the index finger grip has the disadvantage that the driver first has to change his grip to operate the brake lever. This can cost valuable time.
You can tell immediately when driving whether an e-scooter has pneumatic , solid rubber or honeycomb tires . Because while pneumatic tires absorb most minor bumps, solid rubber tires pass all bumps directly on to the e-scooter and its driver. This is also the reason why most electric scooters without air tires have suspension. Advantage of hard rubber: They are puncture-proof and there is no need to pump them up.
A second important factor is the size of the wheels . 8-inch pneumatic tires drive harder than 10-inch variants, which in turn are just beaten by 12-inch pneumatic tires like the Metz Moovers (test report) .
But models with large pneumatic tires also benefit from good suspension . For example, driving with the IO Hawk Legend (test report) and 10-inch tires is particularly comfortable thanks to its premium suspension.
The brakes of an e-scooter should be one of the most important factors when buying one. After all, stopping in good time in a dangerous situation is crucial for safety. In addition to the type of brake, the tires are also important. Solid rubber tires offer less grip than air rubber tires, especially when it is wet.
The legislator requires two independently functioning brakes for street-legal e-scooters. Manufacturers usually use four variants, which are used in different combinations:
- Disc/drum brakes in front (super)
- Rear disc/drum brake (super)
- Engine brake front or rear (medium)
- Fender brake rear (bad)
The battery capacity of an e-scooter varies between 200 and 1000 watt hours. The rule of thumb is: the larger the battery, the more expensive, heavier and longer the range of the e-scooter. Nevertheless, the battery performance cannot be directly transferred to the maximum range. We show more information on this topic in our best battery list: These 5 e-scooters go the furthest .
All work, except Mytier (test report) . That makes sense, after all, the folding mechanism is rather bad in everyday sharing because it could break. The Egret Ten V4 (test report) offers by far the best folding mechanism . Not only the safety device between the running board and the handlebars is tight and can still be operated with the foot. Users can put on the grips on the handlebars, which also significantly reduces the folding size. The mechanics of the Egret Pro (test report) and The Urban #HMBRG (test report) are also of high quality .
In order for an e-scooter to be suitable for taller people, it needs a sufficiently high, preferably height- adjustable handlebar , a long running board and possibly a suitable maximum load. The shortest running boards are only slightly larger than 40 centimeters. With the IO Hawk Legend (test report) , it is 74 centimeters long including the footrest.
The light is actually a small thing, one might think. In practice, unfortunately, things look a little different. It is not primarily about the actual light output, which is not decisive in the urban environment in which scooters mainly drive. It’s more about the fact that some older or cheaper e-scooters don’t have both legally required lights connected to one power circuit. This means that they always have to be switched on and off manually. It’s not bad, but it’s annoying.
Some newer e-scooters also offer a turn signal in addition to additional lighting, for example on the side of the running board . This is particularly useful for e-scooters. Finally, taking your hand off the handlebars to announce a turn can be dangerous. Models with turn signals include the excellent IO Hawk Legend (test report) , the off-road e-scooter Eleglide D1 Master (test report) and the comparatively inexpensive Soflow S04 Gen 2 (test report).
1st place: Segway Ninebot Max G30D and Max GD30D II
The Segway Ninebot Max G30D (test report) has been rolling legally on German roads since mid-2020 thanks to its road approval. The Segway Ninebot G30D II Max (test report) has been available since mid-2021, replacing the G30D. A better integrated front light, an optimized folding hinge, two centimeters shorter handlebars and a louder bell are new. In addition, the new electric scooter does not have a brake ring on the handlebars for the electromagnetic brake on the front wheel. This is automatically switched on in a pressure-sensitive manner when the e-scooter driver actuates the brake lever for the mechanical disc brake on the rear wheel. Too bad, we see that more as a downgrade.
The Segway Ninebot is one of the very few e-scooters that integrates the power supply into the scooter. E-scooter drivers only have to carry around a light power cable and find a socket to charge. However, it is also comparatively heavy with a weight of around 19.5 kilograms. This is partly due to the very large 551 watt hour battery, which takes the driver about 40 kilometers, depending on the weather, environment, weight and driving style. Hardly any other electric scooter achieves this long range.
It drives sensationally well because of its long wheelbase and the large 10-inch pneumatic tires. The running board is also pleasantly large. Its motor has an output of 350 watts. That is enough to accelerate even heavy drivers, the electric scooter is approved for people up to 100 kilograms, to the maximum speed of almost 20 kilometers per hour. It’s a pity that the e-scooter doesn’t fully exploit the permitted speed of 22 kilometers per hour. The electric scooter Segway Ninebot Max G30D is also our test winner because of its low purchase price.
2nd place: Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2
Xiaomi is an electric scooter pioneer. Long before e-scooters were legal on public roads in Germany, the company was already selling countless Xiaomi M365s worldwide. The Xiaomi electric scooter has proven itself over the years as a cheap and very reliable model. After what felt like an eternity, Xiaomi finally launched the successor Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2 (test report) on the market in mid-2020 , which, thanks to the general operating permit, can be driven legally in Germany and is still one of the cheapest and best e-scooters.
Thanks to its close relationship to the indestructible M365, we’re hoping for a similarly high level of durability. There are plenty of suitable spare parts on the Internet for repairing by hand. The folding mechanism is simple and functional. All components such as the display and LED headlights are perfectly integrated, only the cables could have been hidden better. The footboard is large and the driving experience of the electric scooter is good, also thanks to the pneumatic tires. It’s a pity that the engine doesn’t react immediately, the same applies to the engine brake. Also because of them, the Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2 is only in the midfield in terms of its braking performance.
The very large battery is really good, which takes the driver significantly further than most other electric scooters in this price range. All in all, Xiaomi has put together an excellent and, above all, affordable package with the Mi Scooter Pro 2. You can often find this model at an e-scooter rental.
3rd place: IO Hawk Legend
The IO Hawk Legend (test report) is expensive, but offers everything you would expect from a premium model. The extremely large battery with a capacity of 873.6 watt hours stands out. He easily drives 50 kilometers before he has to be connected to the grid again. Its 500-watt motor is one of the most powerful we’ve tested so far. Also exceptional is the fantastic suspension that makes a real difference when riding.
The IO Hawk Legend has either 10-inch off-road or 10-inch road tires. Visually, it is a real eye-catcher and its workmanship also makes a high-quality impression. It is certified according to IP66 and is therefore resistant to the ingress of water, for example when driving through rain.
But the super scooter also has disadvantages. Its folding mechanism is a bit fiddly. In addition, the engine is quite loud and it only drives 20 kilometers per hour, not 22 kilometers per hour.
4th place: Xiaomi Mi 1S
The Xiaomi Mi 1S (test report) is rightly at the top of the list of the most popular e-scooters. Because for just 400 euros or less, Xiaomi puts together a really tempting package. We particularly like the simple look in combination with the good workmanship and the possibility of repairs.
The e-scooter offers ergonomics suitable for most drivers and is agile when driving. Light, bell, display, folding mechanism – all points that are positive for the Xiaomi Mi 1S. The braking system is also fine. We don’t like the rather weak engine and the maximum payload, which is limited to 100 kilograms, as much. The battery could have used a little more capacity.
5th place: Vmax VX2
The Vmax VX2 (test report) is an all-round successful e-scooter with high-quality workmanship. Before the first ride, buyers must first attach the handlebars with four screws. After that, the Vmax VX2 ST is ready for use. Visually, it presents itself in subtle black. The running board is 15 centimeters wide and 46 centimeters long. When driving, it feels a bit short. Nevertheless, the ergonomics are fine even for taller drivers. However, you should be careful with the rear fender. It’s made of plastic and doesn’t look very sturdy.
Its most outstanding feature is the powerful 48-volt motor with a nominal output of 500 watts and a peak output of 1300 watts. We have not seen any other legal e-scooter that is more powerful. As a driver, you have to be prepared for so much power and lean your body slightly in the direction of travel when accelerating. Thankfully, the Vmax VX2 fully exploits the maximum permitted speed of 20 kilometers per hour plus 10 percent. We measure 22 kilometers per hour using GPS.
The 10-inch pneumatic tires do not have tubes. This makes them a little less prone to breakdowns. The left brake handle actuates the finely adjustable engine brake. The right brake handle combines the drum brake on the front wheel with the rear engine brake. Vmax specifies 45 kilometers as the maximum range for the VX2 ST with its 624 watt-hour battery. Realistically, it should be a little less. If you want more, you can use the Vmax VX2 GT with its 804 watt hour battery.
6th place: Epowerfun EPF-1 / Epowerfun EPF-1 Pro
There are a lot of good street legal electric scooters on the market. But hardly anyone does everything right. However, the electric scooter Epowerfun EPF-1 (test report) is close, it offers more features than almost any other for its low price range. The electric scooter Epowerfun EPF-1 Pro (test report) , presented in mid-2021, offers a larger lithium-ion battery and thus a longer range. In addition, its motor is more powerful, the LED light is brighter and its tires are larger. Epowerfun charges about 100 euros more for the new version.
But even with the smaller model EPF-1, the driving characteristics are excellent. It accelerates quickly to a speed of almost 22 kilometers per hour, brakes accurately and offers a large battery with a real range of over 23 kilometers at winter temperatures of 5 degrees Celsius. The EPF-1 Pro has a range of 35 kilometers in the test, but in a warmer ambient temperature. The workmanship is high on both, the electric scooters allow a maximum payload of 120 kilograms, the display is good, the app is useful and the folding mechanism is well thought out. We find the optics in “The Syltan” variant outstanding, but that’s a matter of taste, as we know. Those who prefer it more subtle will also find variants such as “Stealth” or “City”.
There is little to complain about. For example, the front light of the EPF-1 is a bit too dark, and Epowerfun has improved the EPF-1 Pro. People taller than 1.90 meters would also be happy about a height-adjustable handlebar. If you can overlook this, the Epowerfun EPF-1 and EPF-1 Pro are excellent e-scooters and serious competitors to the Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2 and the Segway Ninebot G30D.
7th place: The Urban XC1
The Urban XC1 (test report) is visually one of the most attractive e-scooters on our list of the best. Its tread is beautifully contoured with the manufacturer’s lettering. It’s mostly black, with a long yellow stripe down its underside, lettering with yellow highlights on the front, massive-looking handlebars, and yellow grommet on the rear fender. This striking color combination looks superb.
The Urban XC1 offers an all-round coherent package for its comparatively low price of around 500 euros. We were particularly impressed by the powerful 300-watt motor, the stylish exterior, the high level of workmanship and the convenient folding mechanism. However, the handlebars have some play and the battery is a bit too small. We find it less bad that The Urban does not have a disc brake at the front, but only an engine brake. Overall, The Urban XC1 is a really good electric scooter for anyone who values quality and doesn’t have to travel too far.
8th place: Niu Kqi3 Sport
The Niu Kqi3 Sport (test report) is an all-round successful e-scooter. In particular, its high processing quality, the well thought-out look and the excellent handling stand out positively. The light is also really good, the display is easy to read and the folding mechanism is well thought out. The brakes are rather average, but still usable.
In our opinion, the battery capacity could have been a bit higher. The engine could also be too weak for some, slightly heavier drivers. If you invest around 100 euros more and choose the Pro version of the Niu Kqi3, you will get a slightly more powerful motor and a significantly larger battery. In our opinion, the extra cost is worth it.
9th place: Soflow S04 Gen 2
The Soflow S04 Gen 2 (test report) is one of the very few legal e-scooters that has a real turn signal installed. A great feature! Finally, it can be dangerous if the driver takes his hand off the handlebars to indicate a turn to signal the change of direction. But the turn signal is not perfect. On the one hand, the indicator unit at the ends of the handles is too dark for daylight, on the other hand, the driver has to lean slightly in the opposite direction when indicating, so that he does not cover the indicator for the traffic driving behind. There is also no acoustic signal when flashing.
The rest of the Soflow S04 Gen 2 is also really good. The electric scooter looks stable, offers great brakes, large pneumatic tires and a sufficiently powerful motor. Its display is large and bright. Almost the only major point of criticism concerns its battery. It is relatively small at 281 watt hours and wanted to be recharged after about 20 kilometers in our test.
10th place: Scotex H10
For just over 500 euros, the Scotex H10 (test report) has everything on paper that is important for relaxed e-scooter driving. In fact, we are impressed by the high-quality workmanship. Scotex uses a magnesium alloy as the frame material for the H10. Nothing wobbles, rattles, creaks or has too much air. Also good: The Scotex hides almost all cables. Its folding mechanism is simple but effective. Unfortunately, it only allows a maximum payload of 100 kilograms.
The brake lever for the drum brake automatically activates the engine brake as well. This takes some getting used to, but helps to stop quickly in dangerous situations. Even though we’ve had much better braking systems in the test, the Scotex H10 is okay. The high stability of the Scotex H10 creates a very direct driving experience. The e-scooter gives the impression that you are always in full control. The pneumatic tires on the 8.5-inch wheels absorb some of the bumps. They are sufficient for the urban environment with a lot of asphalt.
The engine accelerates up to a maximum of 20 kilometers per hour plus some tolerance. Measured by GPS, we drive up to 22 kilometers per hour with the Scotex H10. The Scotex H10 thus exhausts the scope of what is permitted to the maximum. The battery has a capacity of 270 watt hours. According to Scotex, you should be able to travel up to 30 kilometers with it.
Eleglide D1 Master
This e-scooter is a monster! A monster that is not legally allowed to drive on German roads, but is still allowed to drive on private property or on company premises. The Eleglide D1 Master (test report) integrates a huge 1056 watt hour battery that lasts about 60 kilometers. It also offers two 500 watt motors, which means that the Eleglide D1 Master is also ideal for off-road tours. The optimal suspension, which is second to none, also helps here.
He drives a breakneck 55 kilometers per hour. In addition, there is the flawless folding mechanism and a famous lighting system, which also offers a good indicator. A great e-scooter, which at around 900 euros shows excellent value for money, which basically only lacks road approval.
.
Kugoo Kirin G3
The Kugoo Kirin G3 (test report) comes with almost all the premium features you could wish for in an e-scooter. He has a banned powerful 1200-watt motor, which only regulates from 65 kilometers per hour. Luckily, it has a suspension that is among the best in its class. Its battery offers 936 watt hours and is easily enough for a range of 50 kilometers.
What it lacks is a turn signal. Its folding mechanism is also a bit cumbersome and it only allows a maximum load of 100 kilograms. Its biggest disadvantage: it is not licensed for German roads, so it can only legally drive on private property. The Kugoo Kirin G3 costs 999 euros.
Egret Pro
The Egret Pro (test report) is basically a really good e-scooter that would have made it into our top 10 list at a more reasonable price. Among other things, its powerful engine is outstanding. Like hardly any other legal e-scooter, it accelerates to the permitted 20 kilometers per hour plus 10 percent. Its battery is also exceptionally good and offers a strong 840 watt hours, which is enough for around 50 kilometers. Its disc brakes are hydraulic and the 10-inch pneumatic tires grip well. In addition, the folding mechanism is really good, even if you can’t fold the handlebars on the Egret Pro.
However, we miss a suspension. The Egret Pro relies exclusively on its pneumatic tires for this, which is simply not enough, especially in the price region. In addition, we would have liked premium features like a turn signal. The Egret Pro costs 1799 euros.
Icon bit IK-1969K
The Iconbit Kick Tracer City IK-1969K (test report) shows few weaknesses and is inexpensive. That’s why it’s our price-performance recommendation. It accelerates and brakes well and comes with extra rear suspension. This is also necessary because of the solid rubber tires for a smoother ride.
The processing of the Iconbit IK-1969k is reasonable, only the folding mechanism gets stuck at the beginning and needs to be lubricated. Its range of 18 kilometers is not great, but it is okay for the low price.
my beast
The animal scooters have been rolling through most German cities as rental scooters since mid-2019. This means they are designed to be as robust and resistant to errors as possible. In 2020, Tier swapped its entire fleet for removable battery models. The old fleet is overhauled and sold under the name Mytier (test report) . Buyers get an almost indestructible electric scooter for 700 euros. Everything about it seems to be of one piece, even the bell encloses the handlebars indestructibly. The brakes are great, but the engine is not very powerful, but sufficient. Overall, despite the hard rubber tires, it is pleasant to drive, which is also due to the double hydropneumatic suspension of the front wheel.
It doesn’t have a folding mechanism. This makes it a little more robust, but also significantly less flexible. It hardly fits in normal cars. And wearing the Mytier is also a real challenge. In addition, it does not have a single physical button and can only be switched on and off via the app, which is quite annoying. Otherwise, customers get a lot here for 700 euros.
The Mytier electric scooter is largely identical in construction to the SXT Max electric scooter linked here in the price comparison.
SXT Light Plus V
The SXT Light Plus V (test report) is a good e-scooter that could have been an excellent e-scooter with just a few tricks. The missing side stand annoys us. The front brake is too strong for inexperienced drivers. The tires are a bit small and do not offer air inflation. The LCD is small and difficult to read in the sun. The throttle is a bit too tight. All things that should be better in an electric scooter for 800 euros.
But he shines in other categories. Impressive are its small folding dimensions, the attachable handlebars, the height-adjustable handlebars, the long range and top speed, the powerful engine and the good brakes.
Trekstor EG40610
The Trekstor EG4061 (test report) is really good and one of the few electric scooters with a removable battery. In addition to the option of changing the battery, we particularly like the very pleasant and safe driving experience. But the braking system also works reliably and the engine is sufficiently powerful. The look is pleasing thanks to the simple design with the orange-colored elements, the workmanship makes a reasonable impression.
However, there is room for improvement in some details. You can’t close the battery door like this. So if you leave the Trekstor EG4160 (fixed with a handcuff lock if possible ), you should take the fortunately very light battery with you. A replacement battery is expensive. The maximum range is also lower than that of many other e-scooters on our list of the best.
Metz Moover
The Metz Moover (test report) was one of the first street legal e-scooters in 2019. Nevertheless, it still seems well thought out down to the last detail. The high processing quality and the consistent use of high-quality components are particularly noticeable in the Moover. In terms of driving experience, nobody can fool him. This is mainly due to the large 12-inch pneumatic tires, which absorb most bumps and ensure that the e-scooter is fantastic in the curve. The front and rear disc brakes are the best in the test field.
The electric drive in the electric scooter is sufficiently strong, but it hums along clearly audibly. When folded, the scooter fits in trunks from golf class upwards. Its battery may be small, but its range is in the upper midfield thanks to its low rolling resistance. We didn’t like the low payload of only 94 kilograms, the lack of splash water certification and the rather high price.
Unfortunately, the parent company Metz Mecatech is insolvent, the manufacturer Metz Mobility GmbH continues the e-mobility division. The product range was expanded with the Metz Moover Plus. The new electric scooter now offers a load capacity of up to 130 kilograms and is said to have a quieter motor. The first-generation Moover electric scooter is on sale and some of the offers are cheap.
Trekstor EG3178
The electric scooter Trekstor EG3178 (test report) costs less than 400 euros and is still good. Above all, as usual in this price segment, it has no major weaknesses. The motor in the scooter is sufficiently strong and the brake combination, consisting of a disc brake on the rear wheel and the motor brake on the front wheel, does its job satisfactorily.
Overall, you feel safe driving the e-scooter. Its 8.5-inch tires are made of hard rubber with a honeycomb pattern. In order to absorb rough impacts, the manufacturer Trekstor installs a suspension in the e-scooter. You have to be careful with the folding mechanism. Here it may be necessary to first adjust a set screw. More details in the e-scooter test .
Elmoto kick
Hardly anyone can fool the Elmoto Kick (test report) in terms of processing. The motor of the e-scooter is also strong, the tires are excellent and the brakes are excellent. We like the alarm system.
The idea of using Einhell rechargeable batteries for operation is brilliant for everyone who already uses Einhell devices. But even newcomers to e-scooters have two large Einhell batteries at home when they buy the Elmoto Kick and can save on batteries when buying new, compatible tools.
Overall, the range of almost 20 kilometers is okay. If you want more, buy replacement batteries. What we don’t like is that users always have to take the batteries out of the Elmoto Kick to charge them.
Doc Green Explorer ESA 1919
The Doc Green Explorer ESA 1919 (test report) costs around 370 euros. But be careful: the electric scooter is often on sale at ATU, Lidl and other retailers for around 300 euros. Good is its workmanship, the safe driving experience, the integration of the light and the folding mechanism. Even the range, which is rather moderate at a good 15 km, is absolutely fine considering the low purchase price.
Of course, buyers have to accept compromises, especially compared to more expensive models. So he accelerates too slowly, which disqualifies him for heavy people. In combination with the honeycomb tires, there is also no suspension to make the driving experience softer and to relieve the components. The brakes, which always start too abruptly, can be really annoying and, in the worst case, even dangerous. But it also has the shortest braking distance of all the e-scooters we tested.
Egret Ten V4
The Egret Ten V4 (test report) is a top-class electric scooter. Thanks to the 500-watt electric drive, it accelerates very quickly, rolls quietly and, thanks to 10-inch pneumatic tyres, is also low-vibration through the streets with a great driving experience. Its lithium-ion battery is huge and the rolling resistance is low. As a result, it gets significantly further than many of its competitors before it has to be connected to the grid again.
The braking system with one disc brake per wheel works excellently. The folding mechanism is excellent. It makes a valuable and well thought-out impression. As one of the very few electric scooters, you can also fold down the handles here. That is why it is particularly suitable for small trunks and for transport on public transport. Only its handlebars could be too low for very tall people. The second catch: It is quite expensive. Buyers already get an e-mountain bike for the money (list of the best) .
Eflux Vision X2 Hub
Strictly speaking, the Eflux Vision X2 Hub (test report) is not an electric scooter, it falls into the moped category. It drives up to 45 kilometers per hour, may only be driven from the age of 16 (in some federal states from 15 years) and with a class AM driver’s license, helmets are compulsory and cycle paths are taboo in town. Nevertheless, thanks to its folding mechanism and minimalist look, the Eflux Vision X2 has more in common with an e-scooter than an electric scooter up to 45 kilometers per hour in a classic design.
Thanks to great road holding, well-tuned suspension, strong acceleration and reliable braking, driving with the Eflux Vision X2 Hub is a lot of fun. When driving at its maximum speed of around 45 kilometers per hour, it becomes really clear to us how slow a normal e-scooter actually is at 20 kilometers per hour on the open road. Nevertheless, a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour would have been desirable in order to be able to “swim along” better in traffic.
We don’t like that you can’t take the battery out of the scooter to charge it. The tread is also a bit too slippery when wet, the rear light could be brighter and a turn signal would be just as helpful as a small, lockable compartment.

Conclusion
It has long been the case that buyers get more for more money. Especially in terms of mileage, driving experience and premium functions, the electric scooter without road approval Eleglide D1 Master (test report) and the variant with road approval IO Hawk Legend (test report) can’t be fooled so quickly. But the premium features are increasingly finding their way into the middle class. For around 500 to 600 euros, with the Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2 (test report) , the Segway Ninebot Max G30D (test report) and the Epowerfun EPF-1 (test report) , you can now get e-scooters that hardly match the significantly more expensive models point inferior.
