The Apple Watch Series 8 would offer a larger screen and a body temperature sensor
Apple currently sells 45mm and 41mm versions of its Apple Watch smartwatch, but these may well be joined by a third version with an even bigger screen this year.
Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), spoke of a major change for this year’s Apple Watch series. According to his information, which is almost always incredibly accurate, the new Apple Watch Series 8 will benefit from the long-awaited new design before the flat edges.
However, the watch won’t just offer a flatter chassis, as the screen will also get bigger. According to the analyst, the 45 mm version will no longer be the largest model available, because Apple is reportedly planning to announce an even larger version at around 50mm, or 1.99 inches diagonally. This would be the Apple Watch with the largest screen to date.

The Apple Watch Series 8 would be available in three different sizes
According to Ross Young, Apple could therefore choose to offer a whole new series of its smartwatch in three sizes: 41 mm, 45 mm and 50 mm. Currently, Apple only offers two different sizes with its Apple Watch Series 7: 41mm and 45mm. With its new 50 mm version, Apple would therefore offer its largest watch, but also the most expensive. The 41 mm and 45 mm versions are currently offered at respective prices of 429 euros and 459 euros. A 50-inch version could therefore well wait for the 500 euros.
In addition to a larger screen, the new generation of Apple Watch should also have a new method of detecting skin temperature that could help diagnose fevers. Indeed, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple seems to be emphasizing the health-focused features of the Apple Watch, and the reporter claims it will come with a body temperature measurement device.
This new report therefore comes against a previous report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who announced that Apple had encountered difficulties with the temperature detection algorithms, and that it had therefore made a cross on the sensor.
