Rumors indicate that Google’s affordable Chromecast is close to launch
Google may be developing a new type of Chromecast that would hit the market for the more affordable segment. At least, that’s what some rumors that have been circulating since the beginning of the year indicate. In fact, this new device from the company is nothing new here.
If you are following the news about this model, you should already know a little about what it is about. However, if it’s not up to date, it’s basically a cheaper model compared to the latest Chromecast released. In this sense, it has passed FCC certification, which indicates that its launch is near.
It is worth mentioning that there is no official name for the product and its current codename is just “Boreal” and everything indicates that it should support a maximum resolution of 1080p, unlike the more expensive model, which supports 4K. Still, it is very likely that it will arrive with version 12 of Android TV for users.
However, as it is a more affordable device, one of the most important details is, of course, its price. Thus, the expectation is that it should cost around 40 euros, which is around R$ 210 at the current price. This value is much lower compared to the 70 euros (R$ 367) of the manufacturer’s most expensive model.
The price is similar to that of the 2018 version of the device, which also went on sale in Europe for 40 euros. There is still no confirmation on the specifications, but rumors indicate that it should come equipped with 2GB of RAM and an AMlogic S805X2 processor. The official launch is expected to take place at a company event scheduled for October 6, at which it is expected to present its new Google Pixels.
