With the Nothing Phone (1), the optics with a transparent back and LED lighting elements play a major role. In the test, however, it is more convincing with its inner values.
Nothing, so nothing – is that supposed to be the name of a smartphone manufacturer? Yes, under the somewhat strange name Phone (1), the company has released its first Android phone.
The mastermind behind Nothing is OnePlus founder Carl Pei, and his handwriting was noticeable months before the launch. There was drumming on all channels and an attempt was made to generate hype with little bits of information about the phone (1). That was annoying at times, but seems to have worked: Before the start, Nothing claims to have collected over 80,000 pre-orders for the phone, which costs from 470 euros, and was able to find Telekom as a prominent sales partner.
With the Nothing Phone (1), standing out from the crowd of smartphones with a different design means: Allowing insights. The back of the smartphone is made of transparent glass. However, if you think you can see the processor, memory chips or the battery, you will be disappointed: Nothing covers the inner workings with, according to the company, half recycled plastic.
