After the launch of the Pixel 6a, the next Google mobile devices that will arrive in the coming months will be the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which will launch next fall, and the new Pixel Tablet, which is expected to launch next year.
Last May Google showed a preview of what we will find with the new Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Tablet, but they showed very little information. He limited himself to confirming that his next mobiles would carry the second generation of his processing and show a little about the design of his next devices, which gave clues about his cameras, and now the sensors that these devices would carry are filtered.
the leaker Kuba Wojciechowski Analyzing the source code of the camera drivers on GitHub, he has found the sensors that the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel Tablet and another unknown Google mobile not yet announced would use.
The cameras of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro
According to the leaker, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will use the Samsung 3J1 as a front sensor, which means they will be able to take selfies from 11 megapixels. The Pixel 6 had an 8 MP front camera and the Pixel 6 Pro an 11 MP front camera but with the Sony IMX663 sensor, which has very similar specifications to the Samsung 3J1 sensor.
For the rear camera we see that the main sensor will be the sensor again Samsung GN1 of 50 megapixels that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro already use, with which we would never find improvement here, like the Sony IMX381 sensor for the ultra wide. For Pixel 7 Pro telephoto by sensor SamsungGM1but both sensors are quite similar in their performance.
Cameras for the Pixel Tablet
For him pixel-tablet we see what it would take two Sony IMX355 sensors, one as a front camera and one as a rear camera. This sensor is the one that Google has been using since 2018 as a front camera from Pixel 3 to Pixel 6including the Pixel Slate tablet.
If confirmed, this means that Google is not going to bet much on the photographic section of its tablet, so we would not have 4K recording, audio zoom or slow motion, since these features are not as supported by this sensor.
The cameras of the unknown ‘Lynx’
In the code of these Google camera drivers, the leaker has found references to an unknown codenamed Pixel device “lynx”. According to the leak, it would carry the same Samsung GN1 main sensor as the Pixel 6 and 7, that is, a 50-megapixel camera.
This front camera would be accompanied by a Sony IMX787 sensor that would be used to take telephoto photos, as this sensor is capable of taking 64 MP photos with its 1/1.3-inch sensor, the same size as the Samsung GN1.
For the front camera there are references to the still unannounced Sony IMX712 sensor, which is rumored to be capable of taking 13-megapixel selfies. It is unknown if this Pixel “Lynx” is a “Pixel 7 Ultra” with more advanced photographic features or simply a test bed that Google is using to experiment with newer camera hardware for future Pixels.
